The Delicious Issue

I am writing this editor's letter the morning after hosting my monthly book club for the first time. It's a group of smart, interesting women, and I had really been looking forward to seeing them again.

I was also really looking forward to getting back into the kitchen--for the past few months I've been too busy to cook anything that didn't require a microwave; but every year when fall rolls around, all I want to do is spend hours in the kitchen, making soup or bread or roasting vegetables. I didn't have time to go all out for our Wednesday night gathering, but I did dust off my roasting pan and break out the fancy knives.

The results were decent, but I've realized my cooking skills get rusty when I don't use them regularly--and after meeting the incredibly talented women in this issue of skirt!, I've vowed to rediscover the joy of cooking. My Italian great-grandmother would be so pleased.
