skirt! readers are nothing if not creative.

One of the most frequent comments I get from our readers is that they like to make things with our magazine. From the fashion student at the College of Charleston who made a dress out of skirt! to the DIY-ers who’ve made everything from tote bags to greeting cards out of the pages of skirt!, there’s something about our magazine that just makes you want to create.

Well, I love that. I’ve had people make me things out of skirt!, too – once, a friend of mine framed and decorated two essays that I had written. I’ve been given gifts that were wrapped in skirt!, seen people who have decoupaged things with skirt!, and once even had a woman tell me she uses the pages of skirt! to line the drawers in her kitchen.

Our new graphic designer, Cara, has officially received her first skirt!-made gift--a shadowbox her sister made from a collage of skirt! pages:

It makes me want to run right home and break out a fresh pair of scissors and a bottle of glue. Have you ever made anything out of skirt!? I’d love to hear all about it.
