Soak Up the Sun

Spring in NC is one more reason why I love living in the south. I had company this past weekend for Easter and they had been experiencing 30 degree weather with snow back in WV. To be able to share the sunshine with guests was the perfect weekend for all. Despite the southern drought, we noticed the green grass was actually beginning to carpet the ground at McAlpine Creek Greenway.

We also were able to spend one afternoon meandering through Noda, the quaint art district in north Charlotte. Every time I visit, I leave feeling almost refreshed. The shops inspire me to be more creative and to push through creative slumps. I need to paint! Lets hope the sunshine will pull something out of me.

I am approaching a move to another rental at the end of the week. I’ll now have a back yard perfect for cookouts and Hillbilly Horseshoes (some call it Ladder Golf), planting beds ready for a plethora colorful flowers, and square footage that is going to require bargain furniture purchases from Craigslist. I am quite anxious to decorate and finally unpack things that have been boxed since my move to Charlotte.

And as usual, I will scour sites and shops for things to put on my walls. I cannot stand bare walls. Having things around me helps me thrive and gives me that cozy, homey feeling. In addition to beginning to paint things myself, I always jump at the opportunity to buy other artist’s work. I came across this unique print on Etsy (also at bgreendesign); bringing a little of the outdoors in. They even have eco-friendly shopping bags (which might I add that I actually use at the grocery store). I plan on purchasing this print as a house-warming gift to myself. Can’t wait!
