I have some great travel stories.
There’s the time my aunt passed out on a flight to Frankfurt and broke her glasses in half (luckily the airport is like a miniature city and we had her lenses fit into new glasses in less than an hour), the time one of my fellow study abroad-ers took an unplanned swim in a smelly, algae-filled aqueduct in Florence (scaring a bunch of Italians and a few fellow tourists), and the time my husband and I were on the subway in Paris in the wee hours of New Year’s Eve morning with a bunch of drunken French people loudly demanding to know whether we’d voted for Bush or Kerry. (I’ll let you guess the answer to that one.)
Travel is my favorite hobby, and not just because I love experiencing the food, the shopping, and the culture in other locales. I love the memories I make on every adventure and the stories to be told for years after.
Although affording my travel habit may mean bringing my lunch to work every day, I consider every single penny spent on travel to be money well spent.
