Longing to travel.
Friday, May, 2, 2008
With the theme of the May issue being “Winging It” and much of the content being about travel, I’ve been daydreaming of traveling. Maybe its because one the gals in the office just returned from her vacation to St. Martin or the fact that I haven’t ventured far outside of Charlotte since I moved (other than the 2 visits home to WV, but those don’t count).
Because I am not able to skip the country until I actually plan something, I decided to revisit the places I have been. I don’t have too many pushpin markers in the world map but I do feel like I have experienced a few places that not everyone gets to see. So last night, I sat down and flipped through albums and journals of my travels.
I have seen the entire city of Paris from atop the Eiffel Tower and watched the sunset from the steps of Sacre-Coeur Basilica in Monmartre. I rummaged through one of the largest flea markets in the world while in Paris. I have stood feet away from the mystery of Stonehenge in the English countryside and rode the largest ferris wheel in the world, The London Eye, in London. I trekked to the top of The Pyramid of the Sun in Mexico City, Mexico. I also hiked to see The Man in the Mountain before his nose fell off in New Hampshire and attended Woodstock of the Millenium at Bonnaroo 2004, ankle deep in mud. And many more wonderful memories in various places along the east coast of the US.
Below is a little snip-it from my Europe travel journal.

I seem to have fed my craving without even leaving my living room.
