Spencer Lueders is all about the ‘booty.’

Spencer grew up near Lance Armstrong in Texas, and enjoyed following the pro biker’s career—but when Lance went public with his cancer diagnosis, Spencer took action, raising money for cancer research organizations any way he could, eventually coming up with the idea for a 24-hour-long bike ride along Charlotte’s “booty loop,” to raise awareness.

“I just wanted to see what would happen,” he says. This July, 24 Hours of Booty marks its 7th year, is the official road race of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and has had to cap the number of participants at 1,200—a mix of hard core bikers, cancer patients, cancer survivors, and the people who support them.

“You don’t have to ride for 24 hours or be a big-time cyclist to participate,” says Spencer, an attorney for NASCAR. “I don’t have cancer, never have; no one in my family has cancer. It’s just important to do something. We go all out.”

What’s your favorite thing about reading skirt!? “I like the voice it brings, and the tone of the articles. It’s a fresh voice for women in Charlotte.”

And wearing a skirt? “It feels really good, and it’s great to see my wife’s handiwork in print.”
