I’m a feminist because...

“I believe that all people deserve respect and equal rights. Championing equality for women is especially important, since men have dominated throughout most of history. Also, women generally have a more sensitive, web-of-relations-based approach to ethics that would better serve men as well.”

~Bill Gay

Bill teaches philosophy at UNC-Charlotte, and first realized he was a feminist in the early 70s when he read a book by Betty Friedan. “I don’t have to be an African American to be a civil rights activist. I don’t have to be a woman to be a feminist,” he says. “I think we need true human emancipation.”
