Kenny says that being in charge of the whistle at the Charlotte Roller Girls’ bouts (his derby name is Nigel Toughnails) has strengthened his sense of feminism. “It’s really broadened my perspective,” he says. “On some level, I get to see women as they really are. I’ve learned so much from them.”
