Since the news broke a few weeks ago, people have been going crazy about John Edwards’ affair and the lies he told to cover it up. And now, according to an article on CNN, Elizabeth is also to blame.
Here’s what one consultant has to say:
"I think she's complicit," said Brad Crone, a Raleigh-based Democratic consultant. "Obviously, she knew. While she's the victim, she clearly didn't stand in the way of the cover-up."
Wow. Really? I mean, yes, John Edwards is a public figure, and therefore held to closer scrutiny than a private citizen. But Elizabeth Edwards doesn’t hold any political office, and I’d think she’d have the right not to talk about her husband’s affair if she doesn’t want to. Why should she be expected to force her husband into public shame? When did that become the role of the slighted wife?
Plus, saying that she’s “complicit” implies that a crime was committed, and the last time I checked, you couldn’t be thrown in jail for cheating on your wife. Or for not wanting to talk about it, to anyone (including the press), if your husband cheats on you.
Regardless, I don’t think it’s anyone’s business how Elizabeth chooses to deal with her husband’s infidelity, and it’s pretty despicable that anyone would place blame on her for wanting privacy.
It was her husband’s affair; it should be his job to take responsibility for his own actions.

When I saw that article online I almost spit the water I had just taken a sip of at my computer screen. WTF?!? It's bad enough everything this poor woman had to go through and now this! What the hell is wrong with people? That dude needs to shut the hell up!
